A small video camera is a handy thing to have these days. You can carry with you where ever you go and be prepared to take some amazing videos. These small video cameras are small enough to fit in your shirt pocket which is why they are also called pocket camcorders.

One of the main uses for a pocket camcorder is taking videos for YouTube and other video sites. The quality of the video pictures is very good and definitely good enough for YouTube. They are also handy to have available if you stumble across an unusual event such as a fire or a mass snowball fight. You can capture some amazing video if you are prepared with your pocket camcorder.

There are three small video cameras that capture the majority of the market and they all have their pluses and minuses. The three are the Flip Ultra HD, the Vado HD and the Kodak Zi8.

The Flip Ultra HD is the best selling small video camera and for good reason. It takes the best quality video in both regular light and low light situations. It has 2.0 inch non-glare LCD screen which is much appreciated when trying to take video in bright sunlight.

It has an HDMI jack that allows you to connect to your HDTV to view your videos but it doesn’t come with an HDMI cable. It has 8GB of memory that will give you about two hours of HD video. It comes with a pair of AA batteries that will recharge when plugged into a USB port. However, it takes about seven hours to reach a full charge.

It has a USB arm that flips out from the side of the camera that plugs into your computer. You can then upload your video to your computer and upload it to YouTube or any of the other video sites. It has Flipshare software that you can run to email your video or edit it or capture still pictures from a video clip.

The Flip Ultra HD is very easy to use. You don’t have to be an electronic wizard to use it. You can pretty much take it out of the box, charge the battery and start taking videos.

The Vado HD is probably the best value for your money. It is cheaper than the Flip Ultra HD and has most of the same features. The video and sound quality is not quite as good as the Flip but it is still very good. It also has an HDMI jack that allows you to connect to your HDTV but it comes with an HDMI cable.

Both the Vado HD and the Flip Ultra HD come with a 2X digital zoom which really is not sufficient. The Vado HD has a USB port that has a flexible cable that makes it easier to maneuver around a computer USB port. 481

The Kodak Zi8 comes with some features that the other two do not have. For one thing, it has a 2.5 inch LCD screen that makes it easier to view your subject. It also allows you to take 5.3 mega pixel still pictures although the quality is not too good. It also has a 4X digital zoom which is much better than the other two. The picture quality and sound quality is not quite as good as the Flip Ultra HD. However, the Kodak Zi8 is still a very good small video camera.
